Hans Kammerlander (Italy) \u2013\u00a0 Hans Kammerlander is one of the most successful extreme mountaineers of our time. In his biography, more than 2500 climbing tours, about 50 first ascents, and 60 solos of massive Alpine walls can be count. <\/strong><\/p>\n

His Presentation will be on 25th of November, 20:15h, Big Hall, Culture Center, Nikola Vapcarov, Bansko city<\/strong><\/p>\n

He climbed twelve of the fourteen eight-thousanders. He descended with skis from the summit of the Everest and through the steep flanks of Nanga Parbat. As the first climber in the world, Hans succeeded in one of the two versions of the Seven Second Summits.<\/p>\n

Hans Kammerlander<\/b>\u00a0(born 6 December 1956,\u00a0Bolzano,\u00a0South Tyrol,\u00a0Italy) is an\u00a0Italian\u00a0mountaineer, living in Ahornach, a hamlet nearby\u00a0Sand in Taufers. He has climbed 13 of the 14\u00a08000m peaks. In 1984, together with\u00a0Reinhold Messner\u00a0he was the first climber to traverse two 8000 m peaks before descending to base camp.<\/p>\n

He teamed with Messner, the first man to climb all fourteen 8000m peaks, on successful climbs of\u00a0Cho Oyu,\u00a0Gasherbrum I\u00a0and\u00a0II,\u00a0Dhaulagiri,\u00a0Annapurna,\u00a0Makalu, and\u00a0Lhotse, and is a\u00a0UIAGM<\/a>\u00a0mountain guide (English, International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations).<\/sup>Chris Bonington\u00a0described Messner’s relationship with Kammerlander as the most “amicable” of Messner’s climbing partnerships.<\/sup><\/p>\n

Since 1996, he held the\u00a0Guinness World Record\u00a0for the fastest ascent without supplemental oxygen of Mount\u00a0Everest\u00a0(16 hours and 45 minutes) and fastest ascent from\u00a0Everest North Base Camp.<\/sup><\/p>\n

In 1990 he made the first ski descent of\u00a0Nanga Parbat.<\/sup>\u00a0In 1996 he failed in an attempt to be the first to ski down\u00a0Mount Everest, after removing his skis and climbing down from 300 metres below the summit, skiing down from 7700m, although he set a then speed record during that attempt of 17 hours to climb from base camp to the summit of Everest via the\u00a0North Col.<\/sup>\u00a0Kammerlander abandoned an attempt to be the first to ski from the summit of\u00a0K2\u00a0when he saw a\u00a0Korean\u00a0climber fall to his death.<\/sup><\/p>\n

\"\"In 2001 Kammerlander announced that he would not attempt to climb\u00a0Manaslu, necessary to complete all 8000m peaks, due to losing several close friends on an attempt on the mountain.<\/p>\n

In 2012, Kammerlander claimed to be the first man to have climbed the\u00a0Seven Second Summits, the second highest summits on all seven continents.<\/sup><\/sup>\u00a0However, there are claims that Kammerlander may have only climbed the lower West Summit of\u00a0Mount Logan. It is also claimed that\u00a0Puncak Trikora, climbed by Kammerlander as part of the challenge, is not the second highest summit in Oceania. In which case Kammerlander will have to climb the main summit of Mount Logan, and climb\u00a0Puncak Mandala\u00a0in\u00a0New Guinea\u00a0to complete the Seven Second Summits<\/p>\n
