Ines Papert used to be a competition climber, one of the world’s best. Ice and rock are her elements. Today, the professional mountaineer is driven to go where no one has gone before her. Mountains all over the world, between her home mountains in the Berchtesgaden Alps and Alaska. Her new lecture traces the life of a successful athlete, a single mother, a wife climbing with her partner today. It’s all about retrospectives, insights, outlooks of a great alpinist, always in search of new adventures.

Competitions in the ice, that’s where it all began. Ines Papert became world champion four times, even leaving the male competitors behind. Her strengths: endless power, huge talent, absolute willpower. She is one hundred percent focused at the decisive moment – even with baby Emanuel in tow. Because Ines Papert is a single parent and a professional. She says: “The fact that I was able to show my son the world as a child is an absolute enrichment for his life. And for our relationship.“

Alpine climbing takes over from her competitive days. Bigwall climbing in Patagonia, expeditions in teams of only women, often just the two of us. It is the supreme discipline of mountaineering, pure adventure. The eye that immediately recognizes the line in the mountain. Not the famous, but the unknown goals entice. There, where one is alone. In direct confrontation with the mountain, the alpine dangers. Knowing full well that the indescribable summit moment will make you forget all your exertions.
Ines Papert also learns what it means to fail. An accident on the Marmolada south face influences her life, her attitude, her tolerance for risk. Flexibility in route selection, waiting for the right and safe conditions become even more important to her. On her third attempt on Kyzyl Asker in China, she meets top Slovenian climber Luka Lindič. With him, she finally reaches the summit. They become a team, on the mountain and in life.

OUTLOOK
Together they climb new routes along the Panamericana, from Alaska to Patagonia. But the Pandemic changes plans from one day to another. They can only do the first section, traveling and climbing in Alaska and Canada. Slowed down by the pandemic, they discover new terrain together, on their doorstep, in Berchtesgaden and in Istria – one of the worlds best rock climbing destinations – where they renovate two old stone houses. The ‚Mountain Lodge Istria‘ becomes a basecamp for themselves, for friends, for climbers from all over the world…
